Brachial Artery


Indication: For arterial bleeding from the hand, forearm and elbow.


Pressure Point: In the groove between the biceps muscle and the triceps muscle, on the medial side of the upper arm.


Procedure

  • Support the patient’s elbow by holding their forearm.
  • Your thumb will be located on the medial side of the patient’s upper arm.
  • Place your thumb in the medial groove between the biceps and the triceps muscles.
  • Grip the upper arm with your other fingers.
  • Using your thumb press the brachial artery firmly against the humerus [Figure 7].
