There are two techniques that can be used to bandage tapered body parts, such as an arm or a leg. The choice of technique depends on the material used.
When using an elasticated bandage, a circular technique is used. This includes a number of spiral turns. The elasticity allows the bandage to fit to the tapered body shape.
If a non-elasticated bandage is used, the bandage should mainly consist of reverse spiral turns. This technique makes the rigid bandage fit the body shape better. The use of an elasticated bandage is preferable when bandaging tapered body parts, as this bandage stays in place better, even with muscle movements. Both techniques are demonstrated on the forearm.
