Once the bleeding has been controlled using indirect manual compression, direct compression can be applied to the wound using a compression bandage.
The technique for applying this bandage is described in Section 6.
In the case of arterial bleeding, application of indirect manual compression to the supply artery should only be stopped once the compression bandage has been applied.
