Qpercom’s annual turnover is below the £36 million threshold set out in Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, meaning we are not legally required to publish a statement. We do so voluntarily, in the interests of transparency with our clients, partners and the wider public sector organisations we work with.
Introduction
Qpercom Ltd (“Qpercom”) is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking from taking place within our own operations and our supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we have taken to understand and address the risk of modern slavery, and is published in line with the spirit of Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Our Organisation
Qpercom is a small, Ireland-registered software company (Company Registration Number 465030) based in Galway. We design and deliver a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for digital assessment in healthcare education, used by universities, healthcare institutions and public sector bodies including the NHS. We employ a small, largely remote-first team, and do not manufacture or handle physical goods.
Our Supply Chains
As a SaaS business, our supply chain is limited in size and nature compared to organisations that manufacture or source physical products. It consists primarily of:
- Cloud infrastructure and hosting providers (e.g. AWS).
- Software tools, licences and platforms used to run our business.
- A small number of specialist software development partners and contractors.
- Professional services, including legal, accounting, HR and recruitment support.
Our suppliers are predominantly established organisations based in Ireland, the UK, the EU and the US, jurisdictions generally assessed as lower risk for modern slavery. We do not currently engage suppliers involved in manufacturing, agriculture, construction, or other sectors more commonly associated with higher modern slavery risk.
Our Policies
Our organisation operates under a flat management structure, promoting autonomy and self-management across operational domains whilst encouraging open communication and collaboration when assistance is required. We maintain a flexible working hours policy to accommodate personal responsibilities, such as childcare or family emergencies, supported by cross-coverage within teams taking a human centred approach. Consequently, the organisation experiences minimal unscheduled leave. We do not engage in digital activity monitoring or tracking, and we never will. Team members regularly report on progress and potential blocks, fostering a culture of mutual support, transparency, and direct communication.
We also maintain a number of internal policies relevant to preventing modern slavery and protecting workers’ rights, including:
- An equality policy, including a positive action commitment covering people over 50, people with a disability, and members of the Traveller Community.
- Fair pay practices anchored to the Irish National Minimum Wage Act 2000.
- Right-to-work verification as part of our recruitment process.
- A protected disclosure (whistleblowing) policy, giving staff a safe route to raise concerns, including about working conditions or practices within our supply chain.
- A documented grievance procedure with a clear escalation route.
Due Diligence & Risk Assessment
Given our size, the nature of our supply chain, and the jurisdictions in which our suppliers operate, we assess our overall exposure to modern slavery risk as low. As we grow, we will:
- Review new supplier relationships for modern slavery risk before engagement.
- Introduce a supplier code of conduct addressing modern slavery and ethical labour practices.
- Extend due diligence measures if we begin working with suppliers in higher-risk sectors or jurisdictions.
Training
We deliver annual staff awareness training, covering modern slavery, so that our team can recognise the signs of modern slavery, understand our obligations, and knows how to raise concerns. Completion records are retained internally for all staff.
Review & Effectiveness
This statement is reviewed annually and updated to reflect changes in our business, our supply chain, and our approach to managing modern slavery risk. For any feedback on this statement, please contact us at info@qpercom.ie.
