During pregnancy, regular check-ups are performed to assess the condition of the pregnant woman and the development of the foetus. The first examination during pregnancy is used as an inventory examination. During the subsequent pregnancy check-ups, the focus is on changes compared to the previous check-up. The aim is to facilitate an optimal condition, detect potential risks and, if necessary, to adjust the management in good time. Throughout the course of the physiological pregnancy the following frequency of check-ups is normal:
- up until the 24th week once every four weeks
- from the 24th to the 32nd week once every three weeks
- from the 32nd to the 36th week once every two weeks
- from the 36th to the 41st week every week
- from the 41st week onwards every other day.
