Procedure
- Try to push both hands between the presenting part and the pubic bone. To achieve this, ask the woman to breathe in and out with an open mouth and during expiration, gradually push your hands downwards. This way, you can determine the relationship of the foremost part with respect to the pelvis (fourth Leopold’s manoeuvre [Figure 20]).
Figure 20
- Note the findings, namely the presentation, location of the back, relationship of the presenting part with respect to the pelvis, e.g.:
- Head mobile above pelvic brim.
- Head mobile in pelvic brim.
- Head fixed in pelvic brim.
