Pressure distributing layer (padding): 1-2 rolls of non-absorbent cotton wadding or 1-2 rolls of synthetic wadding, 10 cm wide.
Fixing layer: cambric bandage roll, 8-10 cm wide.
Procedure
Position the knee joint at a 120°angle.
Apply the padding with two circular turns, starting from the back of the knee and around across the knee cap.
Apply the bandage in a figure-of-eight pattern, starting from the back of the knee and fanning out over the upper and lower leg to about 25 cm away from the knee cap in both directions.
Fix the padding with the roller bandage, using the bandaging technique for knees.
Leave about 1 cm of the padding uncovered on either side of the bandage.
After a few minutes, check the peripheral blood flow for signs of vascular congestion.
