The structure of the psychiatric anamnesis is similar to that of a standard medical anamnesis, during which the physician discusses the following seven dimensions:
- Quality
Nature of complaints. - Quantity
Severity of complaints and impact on patient functioning. - Chronology
Emergence and time course of complaints. - Setting
Where and when do complaints occur. - Related Factors
Factors that increase or decrease severity of complaints. - Associated Symptoms
Symptoms that fit the complaint. - Patient’s Own Point Of View
What explanation does the patient offer for their complaint and symptoms.
