Physicians must be able to perform the mental status examination to such a degree that they can diagnose, systematically identify and record the behaviour, feelings and experiences of their patients. The aim of this section is to facilitate the fulfilment of this requirement, by explaining how subjective and objective information on the mental status is obtained through observation, exploration and testing. In the videos included in this section, we provide a demonstration on how psychopathological phenomena are observed, how they are explored through questioning and how they are interpreted and systematically recorded in the mental status report.
