Clinically relevant muscles in the cervical region are the splenius capitis and splenius cervicis muscle, the semispinalis capitis and semispinalis cervicis muscle, the levator scapulae muscle, the sternocleidomastoid muscle, the scalene muscles and the descending part of the trapezius muscle.
The most important muscles in the back region are the erector muscle of spine and multifidus muscle.
