Freezing – Ethyl Chloride Spray


Ethyl chloride spray can cause a burst of flame if it comes in contact with fire or electrocoagulation. Limit use to very minor interventions that can be performed quickly.


Material

  • Disinfectants.
  • Aerosol can containing ethyl chloride spray [Figure 8].

Procedure

  • Tell the patient what you are about to do.
  • Ask the patient to lie down.
  • Disinfect the area to be incised.
  • Hold the aerosol can vertically.
  • Spray liquid continuously on the area to be incised until a white film appears.
  • Incise while the white film is present.
