This program describes the physical diagnostic examination of the circulatory system. It is intended to help provide the medical student with a basic knowledge of the physical examination of the heart and vascular system, whereby the focus is on technique and interpretation (based on examples). The program is also suitable for all those wanting to refresh their basic knowledge of the circulatory system.
History-taking
This program is not intended to provide a detailed description of the history-taking as well. For this you are referred to other educational resources. A number of very common initial complaints that are associated with the pathology of the circulatory system will briefly be presented. These include chest pain, dyspnoea, collapse, tachycardia and pain in the calves whilst walking.
