Other pulsations or retractions

Pulsations or retractions at other locations are indicative of pathology. For example, in the case of an aortic aneurysm (local dilatation) or dilatation of the pulmonary artery. Pulsations over the entire precordium occur in the case of severe valve insufficiency and in the case of major left-right shunts (e.g. ventricular septal defect).
