General palpation
Start the palpation of the entire precordium with the patient in the supine position by palpating with the flat of the right hand at the level of the heart. Note where pulsations can be felt, whether many or few pulsations can be felt and/or whether these are strong or weak. Then specifically examine the pulsations of the various heart structures.
