Three-Point Suture


Procedure

  • Establish the first point of entry in the wound margin that lies opposite the loose flap [Figure 32-a].

  • Penetrate the lateral side of the “v[Figure 32-b] and, keeping the needle intracutaneous, exit on the other lateral side of the point of the “v[Figure 32-c].
  • Make a second entry point in the wound margin on the other side and exit next to the first entry point [Figure 32-d].
  • The end result is a v-flap [Figure 33].

A similar method is used for r-shaped wounds, except that in this case there are two flaps that must be sutured in the same manner [Figure 34].
