Ethyl chloride spray can cause a burst of flame if it comes in contact with fire or electrocoagulation. Limit use to very minor interventions that can be performed quickly.
Material
- Disinfectants.
- Aerosol can containing ethyl chloride spray [Figure 8].

Procedure
- Tell the patient what you are about to do.
- Ask the patient to lie down.
- Disinfect the area to be incised.
- Hold the aerosol can vertically.
- Spray liquid continuously on the area to be incised until a white film appears.
- Incise while the white film is present.
