This variety of shapes and movements means there can be no universal bandaging technique. There are, however, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>four basic techniques<\/strong><\/span> with which nearly all parts of the body can be bandaged. One exception is <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>support<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>immobilising bandaging<\/strong><\/span>, which requires various combinations of these basic techniques.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">In the art of bandaging, the following body shapes are important:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Body shapes with <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>blunt ends<\/strong><\/span> such as <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>fingers<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>hands<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>forefoot<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>head<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>arm<\/strong><\/span> or <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>leg stump<\/strong><\/span>. These body parts are bandaged according to the bandaging technique for blunt body parts<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Body parts with a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>tapered shape<\/strong><\/span>, where the circumference of the body part either increases or decreases. To bandage tapered body parts such as an <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>arm<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>leg<\/strong><\/span>\/<span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>trunk<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0&#8211; the bandaging technique for tapered body parts should be applied.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Joints which allow a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>hinge movement<\/strong><\/span>, such as the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>knee<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>elbow<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>ankle<\/strong><\/span>. These body parts can be bandaged using the bandaging technique for hinged body parts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Body parts with an almost <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>constant circumference<\/strong><\/span>. These cylindrical parts such as the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>mid-foot<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>middle of the hand<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>ankle<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>wrist<\/strong><\/span> are bound according to the bandaging technique for middle hand\/wrist and mid-foot\/ankle.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The human body consists of body parts which differ in shape and which are capable of a wide range of movements due to joints.
