{"id":830,"date":"2010-12-02T17:58:48","date_gmt":"2010-12-02T17:58:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cloverock.info\/mockosce23\/new\/treatment-of-fractures\/"},"modified":"2024-05-15T16:20:47","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T15:20:47","slug":"treatment-of-fractures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/index.php\/bandages-and-bandaging-techniques\/controlling-bleeding-and-wound-care\/treatment-of-fractures\/","title":{"rendered":"Treatment Of Fractures"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Fractures<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">A <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>fracture<\/strong><\/span> (<em>traumatic break in a bony structure<\/em>) can be diagnosed with certainty if one of the following is present:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Abnormal movement in the bone components.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Abnormal position of part of the body.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Protrusion of the tip of a bone through the skin.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">A fracture is also always accompanied by <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>soft tissue damage<\/strong><\/span>. It is often not easy to distinguish between a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>contusion<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>sprain<\/strong><\/span>, or <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>fracture<\/strong><\/span> based on the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">history-taking<\/span> and the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">physical examination<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>First Aid<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">When administering first aid, if in doubt, the injury should be treated as if it were a fracture. The traumatised body part should be protected as carefully as possible to prevent further damage. In concrete terms this means:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Support.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Cool if necessary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Only apply a pressure bandage if the normal anatomical proportions are intact.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Apply a Plaster of Paris splint, particularly if there is some dislocation (<em>high degree of urgency<\/em>) or if the time (<em>evening or night-time<\/em>) and\/or location (<em>hard to reach by specialised services<\/em>) or other circumstances make this necessary.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Secondary care depends on the further <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">diagnostic work-up<\/span>, where x-ray pictures remain the most important component.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fractures A fracture (traumatic break in a bony structure) can be diagnosed with certainty if one of the following is present: Abnormal movement in the bone components.
