Sometimes, a wooden spatula can be useful as a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>small splint<\/strong><\/span> for sprains or fractures involving toes or fingers.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Cotton Buds<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">These are used to <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>disinfect<\/strong><\/span> the skin.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Tweezers<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Sterile tweezers should be used to <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>apply sterile layers<\/strong><\/span> of wound dressing. Non-sterile, preferably disposable, tweezers should be used to <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>remove layers<\/strong><\/span> of wound dressing.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Vaseline<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">This can be applied as a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>lubricant<\/strong><\/span> to the blunt end of bandage scissors to facilitate the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>removal of tape<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>bandages<\/strong><\/span>. Vaseline can also be used to remove <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>tight-fitting jewellery<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Gloves<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">These act to <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>protect the skin<\/strong><\/span> when applying products containing resin and synthetic plaster products, and when <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>changing dirty bandages<\/strong><\/span>. They are available in various sizes and materials, both sterile and non-sterile.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Waste Container<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">This can range from a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>kidney bowl<\/strong><\/span> made of cellulose pulp to a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>waste bin<\/strong><\/span>. The use of this equipment is strongly recommended, particularly when changing bandages.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Protective Clothing<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">This is not only essential when <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>applying a plaster of Paris bandage<\/strong><\/span>, but also when <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>binding heavily bleeding<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>dirty<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>wounds<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adhesive Solvents Adhesive solvents are used to remove adhesive residues and to degrease skin.
