{"id":333,"date":"2010-12-02T13:36:35","date_gmt":"2010-12-02T13:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cloverock.info\/mockosce23\/new\/auscultation-of-the-arteries\/"},"modified":"2023-01-11T23:04:21","modified_gmt":"2023-01-11T23:04:21","slug":"auscultation-of-the-arteries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/index.php\/the-cardiovascular-examination\/periphical-circulation\/auscultation-of-the-arteries\/","title":{"rendered":"Auscultation of the arteries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Murmurs over the large central and peripheral arteries can be indicative of constrictions in either the blood vessel or the supplying blood vessel located closer to the heart.<\/p>\n<p>Note the following during auscultation of the arteries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>continually compare left and right<\/li>\n<li>listen with the diaphragm of the stethoscope; murmurs are high-frequency<\/li>\n<li>do not press too hard; this can lead to a murmur due to artificial constriction of the vessel<\/li>\n<li>record the findings in the chart with the notation S+ of S-.
