Privacy is further improved by placing the examination table with the head end facing the door. Alternatively, a curtain may be added between the door and examination table.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">All <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">instruments<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">materials<\/span>\u00a0should be laid out in advance on an <em>instrument table\/trolley<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Lighting<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>Adequate lighting<\/strong><\/span> is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">essential<\/span> when carrying out a <em>gynaecological examination<\/em>. Possible solutions are to place a mobile lamp adjacent to the examination table, or fix a lamp to the wall.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Examination Table<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">A <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">suitable<\/span> gynaecological examination table is a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>shortened table<\/strong> <strong>with supports<\/strong><\/span> (<em>knee\/leg supports or foot stirrups<\/em>) <em><strong>[Figure 1]<\/strong><\/em>. This allows the patient to lie in a dorsal lithotomy position (<em>with legs parted<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Knee\/Leg Supports<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Knee or leg supports contribute to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">greater<\/span> <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>muscle relaxation<\/strong><\/span>. Even patients struggling to achieve their desired degree of muscle relaxation can be <em>adequately examined<\/em> using these supports. However, these supports have some <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">disadvantages<\/span>. The <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>height<\/strong><\/span> must be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">adjusted<\/span> for each patient based on the length of their legs. The patient has <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>no\u00a0<\/strong><strong>control<\/strong><\/span> over the extent to which their legs are spread, which may lead to <em>discomfort<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"jce_caption\" style=\"display: inline-block;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1665\" style=\"margin: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/cloverock.info\/mockosce23\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Gynaecological_gy-fig-1.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Gynaecological_gy-fig-1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Gynaecological_gy-fig-1-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><span style=\"width: 400px; display: block;\">Figure 1<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Foot Stirrups<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Food stirrups <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do not<\/span> have to be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">adjusted<\/span> <em><strong>[Figure 2]<\/strong><\/em>. Therefore, the patient controls the extent to which their legs are parted. The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">disadvantage<\/span> is that it may be <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>harder<\/strong><\/span> to carry out the examination, if the patient is unable to keep their legs apart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"jce_caption\" style=\"display: inline-block;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1666\" style=\"margin: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/cloverock.info\/mockosce23\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Gynaecological_gy-fig-2.jpg\" alt=\"gy\" width=\"400\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Gynaecological_gy-fig-2.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Gynaecological_gy-fig-2-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><strong><span style=\"width: 400px; display: block; color: #003366;\">Figure 2<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Normally, examination tables have a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>paper roll installed<\/strong><\/span>, so that paper can easily be changed after each examination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em>Occasionally, it&#8217;s necessary to conduct gynaecological examinations under <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>less ideal circumstances<\/strong><\/span>.
