When the foreign object is stuck in the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>nasal cavity<\/strong><\/span>, the patient may be panicking because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">breathing<\/span> is affected. In such cases, the procedure sometimes has to be conducted under a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">light general anaesthetic<\/span> in hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/122522950?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Procedure<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">The patient sits on a chair with good back support.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Sit on a height-adjustable stool beside or in front of the patient. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Your eyes should be at the same height as the patient\u2019s nose.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Ensure that all required materials are ready for use.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Put on the head lamp and aim the light onto the patient\u2019s nose.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Press the tip of the nose slightly upwards and use a nasal speculum to spread open the nostril in which the foreign object is located.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Hold this with your non-dominant hand <em><strong>[Figure 83]<\/strong><\/em>. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">The light of the head lamp should now shine into the nose.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span class=\"jce_caption\" style=\"display: inline-block; color: #003366;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1569\" style=\"margin: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/cloverock.info\/mockosce23\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/EarNoseMouth_enm-fig-83.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/EarNoseMouth_enm-fig-83.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/EarNoseMouth_enm-fig-83-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><strong><span style=\"width: 400px; display: block;\">Figure 83<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">With your dominant hand, slide the hook, with the opened part in the horizontal position, carefully through the nasal speculum into the nose <em><strong>[Figure 84]<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span class=\"jce_caption\" style=\"display: inline-block; color: #003366;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1570\" style=\"margin: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/cloverock.info\/mockosce23\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/EarNoseMouth_enm-fig-84.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/EarNoseMouth_enm-fig-84.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/EarNoseMouth_enm-fig-84-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><strong><span style=\"width: 400px; display: block;\">Figure 84<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">When you have positioned it underneath the foreign object, carefully try to turn it.
