fullscreen; picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Procedure<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Prior to carrying out the test, tell the patient what they will have to do. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">In this case, they will have to indicate in which ear they hear the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>humming tone<\/strong><\/span> of the tuning fork.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Sound the tuning fork by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">striking<\/span> it firmly against your <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>hypothenar<\/strong><\/span> eminence or your thigh. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">You can also use the back of a chair <em><strong>[Figure 13]<\/strong><\/em>. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">In this case, you will have to muffle the upper tones of the tuning fork by briefly grasping the base of the legs <em><strong>[Figure 14]<\/strong><\/em>. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Alternatively, you can firmly squeeze the prongs together <em><strong>[Figure 15]<\/strong> <\/em>to sound the tuning fork.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span class=\"jce_caption\" style=\"display: inline-block;
