Observations are not only determined by the mental disorder itself, but also the context in which the psychiatric interview takes place and the interaction between the patient and physician. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Observations concern the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Age, appearance, personal grooming and hygiene.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Facial expression, eye contact.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Posture, psychomotor functions, gestures, speech.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Behaviour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Signs of muscle weakness.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Feelings and reactions by the patient and feelings and reactions induced in the physician by the patient.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Consciousness.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Attention, orientation, memory.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Sense of decorum.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Abstract reasoning, executive functions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Intelligence, use of language.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Coherence and logic of thought.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Nature and expression of affect.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Somatic affective signs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Vegetative signs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Observations provide an opportunity to obtain information to either support or reject the diagnostic assumptions formed during the anamnesis.
