{"id":1334,"date":"2010-12-04T15:26:54","date_gmt":"2010-12-04T15:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cloverock.info\/mockosce23\/new\/test-when-a-pathalogical-talipes-calaneus-is-suspected\/"},"modified":"2023-11-15T17:11:47","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T17:11:47","slug":"test-when-a-pathalogical-talipes-calaneus-is-suspected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qpercom.com\/sim\/index.php\/the-examination-of-the-lower-extremities\/the-examination-of-children\/test-when-a-pathalogical-talipes-calaneus-is-suspected\/","title":{"rendered":"Test When A Pathalogical Talipes Calaneus Is Suspected"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Procedure<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">The child lies in <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>supine<\/strong><\/span> position.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Hold the lower leg just above the ankle with one hand, and with the other, hold the foot. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">While doing this, try to passively bring the foot into slight <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>plantar flexion<\/strong><\/span>. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">If this is possible, the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>talipes calcaneus<\/strong><\/span> will spontaneously correct.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Flat Feet<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">The term flat feet (<em>pes planovalgus<\/em>) is used if the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>medial arch<\/strong><\/span> has collapsed and the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>calcaneus<\/strong><\/span> is in the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>valgus position<\/strong><\/span>. A distinction can be made between <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rigid<\/span> flat feet and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">flexible<\/span> flat feet. <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>Flexible flat feet<\/strong><\/span> are caused by a weakness of the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>soft tissues<\/strong><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>R<\/strong><strong>igid flat feet<\/strong><\/span> are due to an <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>abnormal connection<\/strong><\/span> in the root of the foot (<em>tarsal coalition<\/em>) or a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>deformation<\/strong><\/span> of the root of the foot (<em>after a calcaneus fracture or as a consequence of congenital vertical talus<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">In children up to the age of four, <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>pseudo-flat feet<\/strong><\/span> as a consequence of a physiological fat pad at the medial arch are often seen <em><strong>[Figure 151]<\/strong><\/em>. In general practice, pes planovalgus is mostly seen in children aged between <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">five and fourteen<\/span>. In 95% of the cases, flexible flat feet correct themselves. Flexible flat feet that cause complaints (<em>tired feeling<\/em>), can be corrected with <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>support soles<\/strong><\/span>.
