In other words, can the abductors stabilise the pelvis on the femur?<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/124602263?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Procedure<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Stand about 2 to 3 metres behind the patient.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Ask the patient to lift up one leg (<em>90\u00b0 flexion in hip and knee<\/em>) <em><strong>[Figure 43]<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Note:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Whether the torso tilts over the weight bearing leg (<em>Duchenne sign<\/em>).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Whether the pelvis sinks contra-laterally with respect to the weight baring leg (<em>Trendelenburg sign<\/em>).
