In addition, the spine <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">protects<\/span> the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>spinal cord<\/strong><\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>cauda equina<\/strong><\/span>, and serves as a point of attachment for many muscles of the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>shoulder<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>pelvic girdle<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">The <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>cervical<\/strong> <strong>part<\/strong><\/span> is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">most agile<\/span>, whereas the <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>thoracic<\/strong> <strong>part<\/strong><\/span> is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">least agile<\/span>. The large shoulder muscles attach at the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">cervicothoracic transition<\/span>.
